Dear EBA-Delegate,
At the RTM and AGM in Augsburg in June of this year, the holding of the EBA Convention in
2023 and 2024 was discussed. As we announced in our last “Letter to the Members”, there
were no official applications for these conventions at this time. Therefore, the AGM decided
to write to the members again whether they could integrate a normal EBA Convention 2023
as part of their national bonsai exhibition in 2023. Unfortunately, there was no positive
feedback, except for the CBA, which offered to hold a reduced EBA Convention 2023 in
Olomouc, Czech Republic, on the occasion of the national CBA exhibition. In accordance with
the resolution at the AGM in Augsburg, this proposal was accepted by the EBA Board and the
EBA Convention 2023 was awarded fixed to CBA in a reduced form in the absence of any
alternative.
Many thanks again from the EBA Board for the willingness of CBA and its president Ivan
Machacek to hold an EBA Convention 2023 in a reduced form. This is an important step for
the EBA because no EBA member country has agreed to organize a regular convention in
2023.
So that CBA can successfully implement this event together with EBA, we have special tasks
that have to be done by us. CBA knows our requirements, these are the implementation of
the NTC on Saturday and the meetings of the EBA Board, RTM and AGM (EBA board meeting
on Friday afternoon, the RTM on Saturday afternoon after the NTC and the AGM on Sunday
morning). These requirements were integrated in the preliminary program and the offer was
made that three exhibits could be presented per EBA member country. The problem of the
delivery of exhibits on Thursday evening or Friday early in the morning for the EBA Members
with long traveling distances to Olomouc will be solved together with the organizers.

The event will take place from April 20-23, 2023.
Participants from the member countries should be provided for the planned New Talent Contest (NTC) and registered by the end of February 2023 at the latest. Exact details on the “EBA Convention 2023 ” will be forwarded to the EBA members once more information is available by the organizer CBA.
However, we are already asking for feedback on participation in the NTC and the exhibition
as well as the meetings of the EBA Convention 2023.
Please write to us at detlef.mostler@aon.at as soon as possible whether you will register a
participant for the NTC, whether you will take part in the exhibition and how many exhibits
you will bring to Olomouc.
